CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN

Dear Corporate Members.

Happy Dasara and Deepavali to all of you and your family members from IETE Hyderabad Centre Executive and Council Members.

We are happy to inform that the response to the AGM (Annual General body Meeting) on 28th June 2009 was overwhelming. 82 corporate members attended along with their family members and children. Amusement and children sports activities were conducted for the corporate members families during the AGM event. This is the first time we witnessed large gathering of corporate members with their family in Hyderabad Centre premises after a long time. We once again express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all the corporate members

for their support.
For our EC team of 2 years term, one year gets completed (July 2008 June 2009). During this one year strong seeds were sowed for the growth of Hyderabad Centre by conducting various professional activities.
1. Every month one EC meeting was held by circulating the EC agenda well in advance and EC minutes posted to all members in time.
2.
In the Advisory Committee meeting held on 30.12.2008 at Sailing Club, Hyderabad, Senior Corporate members participated along with EC & Hyderabad Council members to provide suggestions for improving various technical activities of IETE Hyderabad Centre.
3. For the first time the ALCCS course 2 batches were formed due to the increase in demand for the course.
4.
Short-term courses were organized for the benefit of students and corporate members. We are planning for many more short-term courses this year due to the overwhelming response we have seen for the courses organized from technical Institutions, industries and R&D organizations. We thank IEEE and Vasavi College of Engineering for the joint short-term course with an Eminent Professor of great International repute Dr. Nannapaneni Narayana Rao, Edward C. Jordan Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC), Urbana, Illinois, USA and Distinguished Amrita Professor of Engg., Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Ettimadai, Tamilnadu. This has set a good example for the joint activities of Professional bodies and educational Institutions.
5.
During July 2008 to June 2009,7, ISFs (IETE Students' Forums) and Institutional/ Industrial Forums were added to IETE Hyderabad Centre which shows phenomenal growth in the number of IETE Students' and Institutional/Industrial Forums in one year. We have noticed many more colleges are showing keen interest to have ISFs in their colleges and we have an ambitious target of inaugurating 15 more ISFs during the next term of ourteam which will establish a record in ISFs growth in the IETE Hyderabad Centre.
6. The encouragement from members is very good for the Endowment lectures organized by ourcentre.
7. Ourteam is constantly focusing and striving on increasing the strength of corporate members and this mission is continuously spread in all centre and forum activities. We hope with the continued support of student and corporate members, there will be substantial increase in the corporate members' strength by the end of June 2010.
8. The IETE Hyderabad centre website (www.ietehyd.org) is continuously updated with one week interval and more data on all activities are provided. Elaborate information on ISFs are provided in the website for mutual interaction among ISF members.
9. 5 systems with Internetfacility were provided in the library forthe benefit of students.
We invite all student & corporate members to visit the IETE centre to notice its growth and to get associated with the centre, as it belongs to you all. Your visits and feedback will encourage and strengthen us to organize more activities and to make our IETE Hyderabad Centre as the BEST CENTRE among all centers of IETE in the country.
